Luis Suarez signs new long-term Liverpool deal
Luis Suarez has signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Liverpool.
Suarez, whose original deal was set to expire in 2016, will earn around £160,000 until the end of this season and then £200,000 per week over the final four years of the contract.
"I am delighted to have agreed a new deal with Liverpool and have my future secured for the long term," he said.
"I believe I can achieve the ambitions of
winning trophies and playing at the very highest level with Liverpool.
My aim is to help get us there as quickly as possible."
He told Liverpool TV: "I love the city and the supporters. They have helped me and I try my best on the pitch.
"It was a difficult time after the summer, but they helped me come back and play and I think when supporters help you off the pitch you try your best to make them happy on the pitch."
He also revealed that manager Brendan Rodgers played an influential role in persuading him to pledge his immediate future to Liverpool.
"He was very important. When you have confidence with the manager you can try your best," he said.
"When the team is together and you are happy in the dressing room, that makes me happy."
Suarez's relationship with leading figures at Anfield has improved significantly since he attempted to force a move to Arsenal in the summer.
The Gunners made two bids for the Uruguay international, including a club-record offer of £40m plus £1 in an attempt to trigger a release clause in his contract.
Both were rejected, with Liverpool boss Rodgers accusing Arsenal of "playing games".
Suarez was considering submitting a formal transfer request and also the possibility of court action if the dispute was not resolved as he believed the second bid triggered a clause in his contract that allowed him to leave the Anfield club.
Suarez was initially made to train alone during pre-season, but returned to the first-team fold on 16 August after talks with Rodgers.
"This is fantastic news for everyone associated with the club; the team, the owners and most importantly the supporters," Rodgers said on Liverpool's official website.
"Luis is a world-class talent and securing his services is crucial for what we are trying to achieve here.
"What's most important and most exciting is that, at just 26 years old, his best years are still ahead of him and we now know we'll be seeing him reach that potential in a Liverpool shirt."
Suarez's time at Liverpool has often been controversial and he has previously been handed handed two long-term bans.
He was banned for eight games in December 2011 for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra before receiving his 10-match ban in April for the incident with Ivanovic.
It's Messi vs the board: Inside the Barcelona power struggle
Lionel Messi does not enjoy talking to the media. Rarely interviewed and seldom speaking at press conferences, Barcelona's Argentine forward is an hermetic figure who rarely shares his thoughts and feelings with the outside world. This time, however, he had something to say.
The 26-year-old, who is currently in his homeland as he recovers from a troublesome hamstring injury which has seen him miss the last month of action for Barca, got in touch with Catalan radio RAC1 to discuss two topics on Friday. And he wasn't mincing his words.
First up was a passionate defence of his father following claims by a Madrid newspaper of criminal activity in the organisation of the benefit matches by the Leo Messi Foundation over the summer. "I deeply regret what is being said about my father and my friends because what we do in those matches is 100 per cent for charity," he said in a prepared statement. "I am very close to my father and as long as he wants to, he will be president of my companies and my Foundation.
Such a reaction was to be expected from the four-time Ballon d'Or winner, who enjoys a very strong relationship with his father. What came next, however, was a bombshell.
The Argentine hit out at Barca's economic vice-president, Javier Faus, following quotes made to the same station earlier this month by the director. "I don't see why we should [renew Messi's contract again]," Faus had told RAC1. "He has just signed a new contract until 2018 - and we don't have to offer an improved contract every six months."
Those words were not what the Argentine wanted to hear, especially as he has since seen Cristiano Ronaldo pen an even more lucrative deal at Real Madrid. "Faus is a person who knows nothing about football and he wants to run Barca like a business, but it isn't," Messi said on Friday. And clearly reading from a pre-prepared document as he spoke, the Argentine added: "Barca is the best club in the world and it should be run by the best directors in the world."
Word of the Argentine's annoyance had already reached Barca president Sandro Rosell and the Catalans' chief attempted to smooth over the situation on Thursday by claiming Messi merits even more than his current €16 million per year. "I haven't spoken to him about this, but the club offices are open," Rosell said as he announced an imminent new deal for Andres Iniesta. "But the world's best player deserves to be the highest-paid player," he added.

Men want to admireAdmiration goes along with the support anyway . If you show admiration for him , his successes will do even better . If it comes to promotion, or to win football team that will , Let the knowledge that you are proud of and really marvel at his success . Celebrate together and over time will become even closer .
Men love women who are prone to moodThe list of those things that men seek out partners , in the first place is good humor . The couple that laughs together stays together very long .
Men love freedomHe loves you , wants to be with you and needs you - but not to stay close in every moment , because he has interests outside your relationship .
Iniesta agrees Barcelona extension
The attacking midfielder's previous deal was due to expire in June 2015 and a number of clubs were closely monitoring the 29-year-old's situation at Camp Nou.
Nevertheless, Iniesta has now ended all speculation about his future by agreeing a three-year extension to his existing contract
Iniesta came through the ranks of the Barcelona youth academy and has made 479 official appearances for the Blaugrana since making his first-team debut under then head coach Louis van Gaal in 2002-03, scoring 48 goals in the process.
The Spain international has won 21 trophies during his time at Barca so far, including six La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies.
Iniesta will sign the deal on Monday to become the fifth Barcelona player to agree a new contract until 2018 after Sergio Busquets, Cristian Tello, Lionel Messi and Neymar.

“James Bondi është një alkoolist impotent”
Agjenti i famshëm sekret, James Bond,

Google Glass update lets users wink and take photos !
Google has introduced a new feature to its Google Glass, which allows users to take a photo with a "wink of the eye".
The update to Google Glass, dubbed version XE12, also adds a screen lock feature and the ability to upload and share videos on YouTube.
Technology firms have been keen to capture the wearable gadgets market, seen by many as a key growth area.
Google said the wink feature in its Glass could have various other uses in the future.
"Imagine a day where you're riding in the back of a cab and you just wink at the meter to pay," the firm said in a blogpost."
You wink at a pair of shoes in a shop window and your size is shipped to your door. You wink at a cookbook recipe and the instructions appear right in front of you - hands-free, no mess, no fuss," it added.
Privacy concerns
The launch of Google Glass was accompanied with concerns over its impact on privacy. The worries were triggered by its potential to gather images, video and other data about almost anything a user sees.
Some have argued that privacy will be "impossible" if Google Glass and similar products become widely used.
Analysts said the ability to take a photo by just winking an eye would make it very difficult for people being photographed to notice that someone had taken a picture of them.
"
It is a remarkable progress of technology and the possibilities of innovation around it limitless," Manoj Menon, managing director of consulting firm Frost & Sullivan.
"However, it comes with new issues that we need to understand, not least the worries over security and privacy.
"There needs to be discussion about how, and in what environments, gadgets like these can be used openly," he said
Mr Menon added that as the technology behind these gadgets matures and companies push more for their mainstream adaption, regulations were likely to come into place "to govern their usage".
Potential growth
The wearable technology market is expected to see robust growth in the coming years.
However, analysts differ over the potential size of the market.
According to Juniper Research, the sector is expected to have annual sales of $19bn (£11.9bn) by 2018, up from $1.4bn this year.
Analysts at the bank Credit Suisse have been more upbeat and have suggested a figure of $50bn figure by the same date.
Research firm Gartner has been more cautious about its predictions. It has said it expects $10bn sales for 2016. But one of its analysts suggested the sector would grow more quickly if businesses decided to equip their workers with such technology.
Growing competition
Google Glass is one of a number of wearable gadgets that have been launched by firms as they compete to take a a major share of the growing market.
In October, Nike launched its second generation wristband, Fuelband, which helps users track their physical activity.
In September, Samsung unveiled a smartwatch, Galaxy Gear, that can be used for voice calls and run apps.
Also in September, Japanese mobile operator NTT Docomo demonstrated glasses that can translate a menu by projecting an image of translated text over unfamiliar characters.
Earlier this year, US-based Heapsylon said it was developing sensor-equipped socks that would help their owners monitor their balance while walking or running.
Meanwhile, Chinese firm Shanda, has unveiled the Geak Ring - a finger-worn device that can unlock a user's smartphone or pass data to others.

Champions League 1/16 2013-2014 Draw !
The draw for the last 16 of the Champions League was completed on Monday, with some intriguing fixtures emerging to create a number of storylines.
Didier Drogba will get his return to Chelsea and what is sure to be an emotional reunion with Jose Mourinho, after the Blues were drawn with Turkish side Galatasaray.
Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini will be hoping to draw upon all his knowledge of La Liga for the clashes with Barcelona, while Arsene Wenger's Arsenal were arguably handed the toughest tie of them all after they were paired with holders Bayern Munich.

Chelsea steal a march on Manchester United in race for Guarin
Inter directors Piero Ausilio and Marco Branca were in London last week to discuss a deal after the Colombia international indicated he would prefer a move to Stamford Bridge
Chelsea look set to hand David Moyes and Manchester United another blow in the transfer market with Inter star Fredy Guarin ready to agree a move to Stamford Bridge.
It emerged last week that the Premier League champions had stepped up their pursuit of the versatile
Colombian midfielder and had sent representatives to Italy to discuss a potential January transfer.
Guarin, however, would prefer a move to the west London club and sees the chance to play under Jose Mourinho as a decisive factor.
Chelsea would be prepared to pay up to €15 million for the former Porto player, an offer which is being seriously considered by the Serie A club.
Inter directors Piero Ausilio and Marco Branca were in London last week to discuss the deal but the club's president Erick Thohir will have the final say as to whether the transfer will be sanctioned
Mourinho claimed earlier this month that he would not be looking to add to his squad in January, claiming: "It is my squad. For good and for bad, it is my squad. Of course, it is not the perfect squad but it is my squad and I work with them until the last day."
But with Frank Lampard struggling to contribute as much as he has done in the past and ageing enforcer Michael Essien reduced to a bit-part role this season, the Portuguese may see the opportunity to add Guarin's energy and industry too good to miss.
The 27-year-old's decision to snub United's interest would represent another damaging blow to Moyes' reputation in the transfer market following a shambolic summer which saw moves for Cesc Fabregas, Thiago Alcantara and Ander Herrera fail to materialise.
Moyes is understood to be under growing pressure to recruit well this winter having overspent significantly on his one major signing thus far, Marouane Fellaini, who has been far from an instant hit.
Guarin's contract at Inter runs until 2016 and his agent recently declined to comment publicly on United's efforts to sign him, except to state that "David Moyes appreciates him".
Revealed: Clubs spend €1.2 billion on 10 transfers in 2013
The top deals are recorded in the Goal Transfer List, a new study of the global market, which is headed by Gareth Bale at a cost of almost €200m to Real Madrid
he biggest 10 transfers of 2013 cost the clubs involved a staggering €1.2 billion, according to new research conducted by Goal.
The Goal Transfer List was compiled to highlight the maximum potential payout for clubs relating to each major transfer over the last 12 months and the results show that spending on elite players has never been higher.
In a year in which the world record transfer fee was broken by Gareth Bale's move to Real Madrid, the total amount committed to salaries, taxes and additional costs saw six deals break the €100m barrier.
Bale's deal proved to be the most expensive of all, with Madrid set to pay out a total of €198.8m if the Welshman sees out his six-year contract in the Spanish capital.
The figures were derived from an amalgamation of all foreseeable costs over the course of each player's contract. Net salary figures were adjusted according to the current tax laws of the applicable country to reach a final gross payable amount.
Signing-on fees and agents' fees were then included following consultation with sources and experts in each market, as were additional charges such as administration costs. In all cases, where figures are not publicly available, reasonable estimates have been made.
The total costs show a continued growth in the spending habits of clubs at the higher end of the game, with the increased levels of cash coming into football being used to keep the transfer market moving forward at a rapid rate.
Graham Shaw, Editorial Director, said: "The Goal Transfer List is an indication of the continued growth in the popularity of football at the elite end of the game.
"Clubs know that signing top players is essential for them to compete for the huge rewards on offer for success in domestic and international competitions."

The Japan international has long been linked with a move to the Rossoneri and they have now confirmed the attacking midfielder will arrive at San Siro during the winter break
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has confirmed that CSKA Moscow attacking midfielder Keisuke Honda will join the club on a free transfer on January 3.
The Japan international was initially expected to join the Rossoneri ahead of the 2013-14 campaign, but the Serie A side ultimately failed to reach an agreement with their Russian rivals over a transfer fee.
However, Galliani announced on Wednesday that the 27-year-old Honda will make his belated arrival at San Siro during the upcoming winter break.
"Honda will be a Milan player per January 3 and will wear the No.10 jersey," Galliani told reporters.
"We can finally end the secrecy. The deal can be made official now.
"I do not know whether he will already be available on January 6 [against Atalanta] due to all the paperwork that will have to be sorted."
Honda started his professional career with Nagoya Grampus and also wore the VVV jersey before joining CSKA in January 2010.
